Raise your hand if you’ve ever been stuck in line at a grocery store & wished that you could just simply grab your items & walk out. Well, Amazon is on the brink of changing the shopping experience for everyone! Introducing Amazon Go!
Amazon describes this as “the world’s most advanced shopping technology.” The new app is currently in the beta stages and the store, located in Seattle, is only open to Amazon employees at this time. It will be open to the public sometime in 2017.
So, how does this work? Per Amazon: “Our Just Walk Out technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Shortly after, we’ll charge your Amazon account and send you a receipt.”
The store will offer the essential products one would purchase like bread, milk and vegetables. They will also offer a chef designed Amazon Meal Kit which will include ingredients to make a quick dinner at home.
Our Question of the Week: Would you be more inclined to shop at a store where you didn’t have to deal with cashiers and check out lines?
