Potential Hollywood Writers Strike & Nordstrom’s Muddy Jeans

Hollywood Writer’s Strike

Members of the Writers Guild of America may be heading to the picket lines again on May 1st. According to Deadline, 96.3% of eligible WGA members voted to go on strike if their contract negotiations with management’s Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers fail. The last television and film writers strike took place in 2007 and lasted for 100 days. The two main issues being negotiated now are higher pay for TV writers and the WGA’s healthcare plan.

Nordstrom’s Mud Crusted Jeans

You may recall our story last December about Nordstrom selling a leather wrapped stone for $85. Well, you can now purchase your very own pair of muddy jeans for $425 (£330)! The description on Nordstrom’s site for the Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans says: “Heavily distressed medium-blue denim jeans in a comfortable straight-leg fit embody rugged, Americana workwear that’s seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you’re not afraid to get down and dirty.”

The description for the Barracuda Destroyed Straight Leg Jeans says: “Hand-painted and destroyed denim jeans tailored in a modern straight-leg fit have been prominently hand-sanded, distressed and repaired with contrasting patchworking and stitch-detailing, transforming your style into wearable abstract art.”

Our question to Kieron and Toby: Would you be willing to pay $425 (£330) for a pair of these jeans? Inquiring minds want to know!
